Malt Laboratory

Our malt testing can provide information about the quality of the malt. We also test for toxins which may be a requirement or for due diligence.

Predicted Spirit Yield

By setting up a small scale distillation we can predict the litres of alcohol per tonne that the malt will produce.

Friability

Measuring friability makes it possible to monitor the quality of the malt. Irregularities during the malting process are detected and may be corrected.

Contaminants

We can analyse NDMA, sulphur dioxide and glycosidic nitrile.

Nitrogen

Distilling malt requires a high starch content and low nitrogen, with an optimal nitrogen level being about 1.5%.
